Our client is looking to hire a Fiscal Monitoring and Accounting Specialist. The Monitor team is responsible for determining fiscal compliance with state and/or federal programs, applicable laws and regulations and stated results and outcomes. With overall review, they make sure the financial management and accounting systems are adequate to account for program funds in accordance with state and/or federal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

·       Responsible for auditing and monitoring organizations that have contractual agreements with the agencies, conducting internal audits within agencies to verify compliance with state and/or federal law program standards.

·       Explains and coordinates the review process and the monitoring schedule so all requested information is available before the review.

·       Reviews and analyzes applicable documentation, while on site, to verify compliance with state and/or federal law program standards.

·       Compiles and analyzes data and information for external reporting as required by state and/or federal law or regulations.

·       Writes narrative and detailed observations, conclusions, findings, concerns, and recommendations relevant to the program to increase productivity and effectiveness.

·       Prepares reports to document results of monitoring activities and results.

Requirements and Skills

·       Must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and three years of full-time professional experience monitoring accounting systems or programs with services or related outcomes covered by organizational rules, regulations, or related standards.

·       Must have auditing experience

·       Must have 3+ years’ experience in a governmental/non-profit entity relative to compliance activities.

·       A certification in a related field: CPA, CIA, CMA, CFE, etc. is preferred.

·       Proven technical skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)

·       Excellent verbal and written communications skills

·       Keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines

·       Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Other Important Information

·       The position is remote with some travel

·       Position is located in Nashville, TN. Candidates located outside Nashville can refer to State regulations for travel reimbursement.

·       The position is contract for 9 months with an opportunity to be extended.
