Job Description:
General Laborer role within a warehouse environment. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for shipping and receiving tasks related to goods and services necessary for business functions for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Divisions of Animal Health, Laboratory, and Consumer and Industry Services. Example of goods or services shipped/received may include, but are not limited to, laboratory supplies/equipment; regulatory inspector supplies/equipment; veterinary supplies/equipment; PPE/emergency response equipment/supplies; and/or general mechanical maintenance tools or supplies.
Specific job duties/functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Veterinary Support Services:
- Assist with distribution of Animal Health forms and supplies to veterinarians and field staff.
- Help maintain stock of forms/supplies and ensures there is always an adequate amount on hand.
- Help mailing out requested supplies and/or forms within 24 hours of request.
- Porter Building Inventory and Surplus:
- Assist with weekly monitoring and restocking inventory of all needed office and cleaning supplies.
- Help submitting purchase orders to supervisor when stock becomes low, to ensure adequate supplies are always on hand.
- Provide assistance maintaining office supply closet and cage, ensuring these areas are kept organized and tidy.
- Help employees with supply needs. If the item needed is not in stock, will submit an order for the item within 1 week of request.
- Assist with pulling supplies for off-campus employees and sending needed items via courier or FedEx as needed/appropriate.
- Porter Building Mail and Packages:
- Assistance with packages/deliveries from USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc. intended for Porter Building staff (redirects others), and signs appropriate paperwork/scanner.
- Help with matching items received to purchase orders/order confirmations, to ensure deliveries are given to the correct team members. Will pull these documents from the shared Procurement Drive.
- Will reach out to Purchasing ASA II for additional clarification on orders as needed.
- Assist with notifying all Porter building personnel of their deliveries, and sends reminders as needed.
- Help sorting all incoming USPS mail for the Porter Building and distributes into labeled bins for each section to pick up at their convenience.
- Porter Building Procurement Support:
- Will serve as relief for Facilities Protection Officer during lunches and breaks, covering the front desk during these times as needed.
- Will help coordinate TDA-wide Shred It pickup.
- Assistance with placement and receipt of weekly Nexair gas orders.
- Will help coordinate with Vestis for collection of dirty items (towels, washcloths, lab coats, mats, etc.), as well as ordering and distribution of clean items throughout the Porter building.
This position will communicate with vendors for requisite information and documentation related to deliveries, pick-ups, etc.
Applicants for this position must have experience equivalent to at least one year of fulltime warehouse work. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate basic facility using Microsoft Office software systems such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Teams.
