Job Description:

Utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatopy care as primary focus. Works with a variety of healthcare professionals and security ofhcers in a correctional environment. Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols.

JOB DUTIES

1. Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility. This includes the ability to perform continuous CPR. until properly relieved. 2. Administers and documents medications on the Medication Administration Record. Documents all nursing care provided. .3. Performs histories and physicals on inmates. Asaesses patient health status and refers to appropriate level of healthcare provider. Physically assists Physician in patient examinations and treatments. Implements. and follows up on Physician f Dentist verbal and written orders. 4. Teaches healthcare information to patients and correctional staff. 5. Collects sampl, specimens and cultures per Physician orders. 6. Adheres to safety andsec:urity policies and paiticip-ates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps and controlled medications. Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices. 7. Performs van ipuncture and I.V. therapy. 8. Follows stindard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. 9. Other duties as as by management

Q LJALIFICATIOMS

1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. 2. Current valid state licene for Registered Nurse. 3. Possesses an active CPR certification. 4. Remains knowledgeable about spec ilk state laws and regulations governing practice. 5. Satisfactoiy completion of initial and annual  clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.
