Job Title: System Performance Optimization Engineer
Location: Rochester, NY
Job Type: 12 months
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled System Performance Optimization Engineer to manage new site activations, carrier additions, cluster optimizations, customer complaints, and event monitoring. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing 4G/5G networks, resolving performance issues, and ensuring efficient network operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop drive routes for Drive Test Engineers, including new sites and first-tier neighboring sites.
- Analyze pre and post-drive test data for 4G and 5G bands.
- Audit and correct site parameter discrepancies based on Client Lead Engineer recommendations.
- Verify mechanical and electrical downtilts from RF construction closeout packages.
- Check and resolve site alarms and hardware issues.
- Optimize 4G and 5G sector carriers’ coverage, including downtilt adjustments and load balancing.
- Analyze KPIs for accessibility, retainability, and throughput issues.
- Assess traffic offload and coverage gaps filled by the new site.
- Complete activation reports and present findings to RF and SP AOR Engineers.
- Audit and correct recommended parameters for upgraded sites.
- Resolve site alarms and hardware issues.
- Optimize 4G/5G sector carrier coverage and perform load balancing.
- Analyze and resolve RSSI imbalances, accessibility, retainability, and throughput issues.
- Document findings in the site upgrade/carrier addition report.
- Develop drive routes for identified clusters (15-20 sites).
- Perform pre/post TrueCall analysis and collect UE/scanner data.
- Analyze customer complaints and identify problem areas.
- Optimize sector coverage, SINR, and load balancing.
- Audit recommended parameters and resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct pre/post-drive tests to measure KPI improvements.
- Collaborate on long-term cluster design goals and site upgrades.
- Document findings in a cluster optimization report.
- Address NRB tickets within 24 hours.
- Analyze customer issues using TrueCall traces and DMAT data.
- Review site outages, alarms, and parameter changes.
- Implement recommendations and verify issue resolution.
- Update NRB tickets with findings and actions taken.
- Gather event details and map key locations.
- Identify serving sites and obtain design information.
- Review azimuths and downtilts; recommend adjustments.
- Audit event parameters, perform pre-drive tests, and summarize event performance.
- Write queries to extract network config data from MongoDB.
- Audit and correct network parameters, PCI clashes, and missing object definitions.
- Collect configuration data directly from USM and design database for all node types such as enodeb, adpf, acpf and aupf.
- Write python scripts to create new audits based on the network changes and evolving needs.
- Identify DSS, CleanLTE and CleanNR sites and prepare a plan for conversion where required.
- Verify correct ANR config is defined such as maximum distance, threshold and duration.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in RF Optimization and network performance analysis.
- Strong knowledge of LTE and 5G technologies, including SINR, RSRP, RSSI, and KPI analysis.
- Experience with RF tools such as TrueCall, DMAT, xLPT, and VPT.
- Proficiency in drive test analysis, parameter auditing, and troubleshooting network issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Client network optimization processes.
- Hands-on experience in Python scripting for audit automation.
- Familiarity with MongoDB and USM for network configuration extraction.
