Job Title:  Senior Low Voltage Project Manager

Location: Maryland, Washington DC

Job Description:

The Senior Low Voltage Project Manager / Estimator will oversee the pricing, planning, and execution of low-voltage and structured cabling projects, including telecom, security, AV, and fiber infrastructure.
This role requires a highly technical and financially skilled professional capable of developing competitive estimates, building cost models, managing field teams, and ensuring timely, profitable project delivery.

This position combines project management and cost estimating responsibilities — ideal for a candidate with deep experience in estimating, technical design, and field installation management.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for structured cabling, access control, CCTV, and DAS projects).
  • Perform takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and RFP documents.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for materials and specialty systems.
  • Develop bills of material (BOMs) and pricing breakdowns in Excel or estimating software.
  • Work closely with the President to set project budgets and profitability targets.
  • Prepare and submit formal proposals and bid packages with clear inclusions/exclusions.

2. Project Management

  • Oversee full project lifecycle from award to closeout.
  • Create project schedules, manpower plans, and material procurement lists.
  • Manage field technicians, subcontractors, and quality control.
  • Conduct weekly progress meetings, ensuring schedule and budget adherence.
  • Coordinate submittals, as-builts, and testing documentation for client approval.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, GCs, and inspectors.
  • Forecast monthly cash flow, labor burn, and material usage.

3. Financial & Administrative

  • Track project costs, invoices, and change orders to ensure profit protection.
  • Approve timesheets and vendor invoices in alignment with budgets.
  • Assist in business development and client relationship management.
  • Support internal forecasting and monthly financial reports.

 


Qualifications

Requirement

Details

Experience

7+ years in low-voltage, structured cabling, or telecom construction management; 3+ years estimating medium to large projects.

Education

Bachelors in construction management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).

Technical Knowledge

BICSI standards, NEC, TIA/EIA, and local low-voltage codes.

Software Skills

MS Project (or equivalent), Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD (basic), and estimating tools (ConEst, Accubid, or custom).

Certifications

BICSI RCDD or Technician (preferred); OSHA-30; PMP a plus.

Soft Skills

Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and time management.
