Job Description




• Interface directly with customer to provide consulting and knowledge transfer for 5G SA network optimization including RF shaping, parameters, troubleshooting, etc.
• Interface directly with customer to develop commercial network deployment and optimization best practices, workflows, Golden Parameters, KPI definitions, feature definitions, and technical skills specific to Samsung vRAN products.
• Interface directly with customer to analyze, optimize, and resolve performance issues and perform neighbor relations analysis and load balance, and document processes and methodologies appropriately.
• Execute RF Optimization techniques based on drive test data.
• Develop and lead training workshops for RF Optimization to customer.
• Travel to customer’s regional offices once monthly.
• Develop, document, and determine drive routes for field teams to perform optimization and benchmarking.
• Identify and resolve issues in network performance based on drive data, OM’s, coverage predictions, etc.
• Determine, analyze, recommend, and implement parameter changes to optimize 5G SA network to meet target benchmark KPI’s for multiple bands and VoNR.
• Update CIQ and other documentation as needed for implemented parameter and Planet changes.
• Submit supporting documentation (RFDS, etc.) as needed for parameter and RF shaping changes.
• Communicate with customer, HQ and deployment teams to be able to get deployment done while meeting set performance criteria.
• Lead in-depth technical discussions with customer.
• Responsible for hands on analysis of network performance issues and benchmarking data (i.e. air interface, call processing, etc.) and creating solutions to meet network optimization expectations.
• Adapt to changes in a dynamic business environment.
• Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and results.
• Present ideas, technical and non-technical, in a logical, compelling manner in a written format and verbally in both small and large group settings.
• Work with the Network Engineering and Operations Teams on the cell site’s antenna and RF equipment configuration and database parameters.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Provide direction and schedule activities to RF contractors and drive teams.
• Generate reports, status updates, forecasts, analyses, etc.
• Display a SME technical aptitude and provide presentations and communication to the customer.


• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant coursework
• Required solid understanding of 5G parameters and functionality, SA experience a plus
• Required solid understanding of VoLTE & VoNR technologies and parameters
• Significant experience in 5G Optimization
• Recent experience with Samsung RAN hardware and software, USM, parameters, etc
• Experience in leading engineers to meet deliverables
• Understand correlation between performance issues, performance metrics, RF parameters and layer 3 messaging.
• Experience/knowledge of peg count/formulas and CSL data.
• Knowledge of VoNR KPI’s & parameters, and MOS/POLQA metrics.
• A solid understanding of RF fundamentals and data network protocols
• Experienced in 5G KPIs, functionality and counters and be able to propose Optimization ideas for improvement
• Understanding of vRAN and oRAN architecture
• Successful track record defining direction and providing specific instruction for engineering projects/programs leveraging personal knowledge and organizational skills to increase team efficiency, facilitate personal development and mentor colleagues.
• Must have a strong work ethic, integrity and work extremely well in a team environment
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
• Thorough understanding of different NR Architecture types and configurations, node and interface functions etc.
• Understand 3GPP standards release 15&16 radio features, enhancements and condense high level RF specifications into features and interworking between multiple technologies, compliance with 5G SA/NSA networks with use cases involving EMBB, MMTC and URLLC is required
• Good knowledge on wireless infrastructure architectures and air interface standards for NR/LTE and MAC layer and L1/L2/L3/X2 protocols, call flow and functions, QoS parameters
• Advanced understanding on existing and emerging concepts such as Beamforming, 5G numerologies and use cases.
• Knowledge of RSSI/Interference identification, analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
• Experienced with different NR frequency bands for eg. Sub6 and mmWave
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate key technical concepts, ability to package complex ideas into logical, easy-to-follow progressions
• 25-50% Travel required.
